Abstract: The Overarching Mission of an Intelligence Security Organisation in the Defence of the National Security Goals: The Case of Zimbabwe

This article analyses the role of the intelligence security organisation in the development of peace and security of third world states such as Zimbabwe. The study was prompted by the unprecedented political and economic challenges that continue to ravage developing nations due to lack of provision of human security needs for citizens. The focus is on the special intelligence security dichotomy, which is a significant area of study given the secrecy of the roles played by the intelligence security organisations in statecraft. Most, if not all, third world countries are grappling with high security threats caused by their failure to provide for the citizens' human security, especially political, economic and social security needs. This research therefore, sought to analyse the roles and functions of the intelligence security organisations in African states. This analysis takes cognisance of the complexities that have been observed
