This study investigated the nature of and nexus between state-local government relations, governance as well as development in Ogun State, Nigeria. A sample of 213 staff of Abeokuta North Local Government was selected for the quantitative data using the stratified random sampling techniques, while 15 other political stakeholders of Abeokuta North LG were interviewed to yield the qualitative data. The quantitative data was analysed using the SPSS statistics software while the qualitative data was analysed thematically using the NVivo software. Results showed that local government councils and state government (Mean = 2.62) were in a master-servant type of relationship, also, a positive correlation was found between the state-local government relations and grassroots development (Mean = 3.25) and, that these relations positively affected development (Mean = 2.77) in Abeokuta North LG, in particular, and Ogun State, as a whole. Thus, th
