This article focuses on talent management within the context of the South African public sector. The purpose of this article is to examine the relationship between leadership and group identity and the intention to attend work. Talent management is important in the attraction, identification, development, and retainment of employees within the workplace. An important aspect to all this concerns perceptions around achieving work outcomes such as intentions to attend work. This includes not only an exploration of the factors that influence such workplace outcomes but also how they influence and relate to talent management. Based on a quantitative research approach, using a survey questionnaire, this article explores the perceptions of managers and employees at a selected metropolitan municipality in South Africa on the relationship between leadership and group identity and the intention to attend work. The findings show a significant p
