Abstract: Liberation political discourses on the land question in South Africa and the challenges of international capitalist discourses

The purpose of this article is to examine how these international capitalist discourses pose a challenge to the settlement of the land question in South Africa. The struggle for liberation against apartheid, in South Africa, was always intertwined with the struggle for the liberation of the land. The three liberation movements, the African National Congress (ANC), the Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) and the Black Consciousness Movement (BMC) and later Azanian People's Organization (Azapo) had, in their manifestos, a policy on the land question in the post-apartheid dispensation. In 2014, a newly formed party, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), formed by former members of the ANC Youth League, also had in their manifesto a policy on the land question and has been vocal on land expropriation without compensation. In March 2018, the Parliament of the Republic of South Africa passed a motion on the land expropriation withou
